WELCOME TO POST 1481 CPL FRED J. GRANT

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

IN-COUNTRY

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

There is a new cartoon everyday.

Dorothy and I have arrived back from the 125th national convention of the VFW.  We have been honored beyond belief to be able to represent you before such a great body of veterans. I have been reminded of why we do what we do and it’s not for money, fame or recognition.  I just want to help and give back. Thank you for letting me do that.

A Financial Guide for Young Veterans Stepping Into Civilian Life

Leaving the military is like walking off a ship that’s always kept you afloat, even in choppy waters. You’re on solid ground now, but it’s unfamiliar terrain—civilian life with its unwritten rules, unpredictable rhythms, and above all, new responsibilities. For young veterans, one of the most critical—and often most confusing—parts of this transition is money. The security of steady military pay is gone, and in its place is a world filled with choices, opportunities, and traps that don’t come with a briefing.

Saluting Success: Veterans Can Elevate Their Career with a College Degree

For many veterans, the transition from military to civilian life presents unique challenges and opportunities. Among these opportunities, returning to college is a significant step that can pave the way to a fulfilling career and enhanced personal growth.
